The Ector County Hospital District has selected Hardin Construction Co. LLC to provide construction
management-at-risk services for the Medical Center Hospital, Center for Women and Infants &
Mechanical Plant Project. The project consists of installation of pedestrian areas and landscaping
improvements to the Emergency Dept. entrance, a 92,000-sq-ft three-floor addition, 11,000 sq ft of
renovations and a central mechanical-plant expansion, including the removal of the existing
engineering-shops area, the addition of a 4,200-sq-ft chilled water plant and rooftop cooling towers. The
estimated construction cost is $39 million.

I just got off the phone with Brother Galvin, Business Agent at local 286, Austin TX. He tells me that he
will be needing travelers starting around the 23rd. He is going "STRICTLY BAxBA" and doesn't want
the members calling in. His phones are jammed and his local members can't even call in to take care of
business. He was very distraught about the situation. Also there is a 10 year background check and
quite a few have been turned around already. OSHA 10 is also required on this project. I can't
emphasize enough on this one, "HAVE YOUR BA CALL!"
