The Iatan 2 plant, which is currently targeted to go into service in 2010, is a significant component of
KCP&L’s long-term comprehensive energy plan to maintain an affordable and stable supply of
electricity in the Kansas City region. Iatan Unit 2 will be a high efficiency, coal-fired power plant
featuring state-of-the-art emission control equipment designed to exceed current and future clean
air requirements. KCP&L will own approximately 500 MW of the Iatan Unit 2 capacity with the
remainder jointly owned by other local electric utilities.
